Envisioned by Harry Edmonds and opened in 1924 through the generosity all John D Rockefeller Jr, and the Cleveland H Dodge family, International House is a vibrant community of 700 graduate students, interns, trainees and visiting scholars from more than 100 countries, including the US, each year. IHouse residents study, train conduct research at more than 100 academic and professional institutions in New York in the fields as varied as physics law finance and dance.
IHouse NY’s mission is to enable its resident members to live and learn together, building lifelong qualities of leadership, Mutual respect, and friendship by daily interactions through programs and residential life designed to foster diversity of thought and experience. The house offers an immersion in cross-cultural understanding and communication, but no classroom by itself can provide.
International House offers educational programs which compliment graduate study, facilitate intercultural exchange, and provide leadership training across cultures.
